Parachute Group at Running USA 2020

Parachute partner Kyle McLaughlin will be at the 2020 Running USA annual industry convention Feb 9-11 in Las Vegas, teaching a practical skills session on Emergency Action Planning for mass participation events. As part of Running USA’s idea lab series, the sessions aim to give event organizers of varying backgrounds implementable tools to take back to their home events.

McLaughlin, a certified continuity planner, developed a unique industry expertise in event emergency action planning in six years at New York Road Runners, where he designed and built NYRR’s security and safety program following the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks. McLaughlin served for four years as the Incident Commander for the NYC Marathon, and oversaw multi-agency planning for all of NYRR’s events, coordinating with 40+ city, state and federal agencies. He authored one of the early editions of the National Center for Sports Safety and Security’s Best Practices Guide for Mass Participation safety and security.
